Mara: Sexy film heroines from the 60s and 70s. Faye Dunaway and Ali McGraw and kinda badass women.
Patent: Three words that would define your collection.
Mara: Sexy, feminine and sophisticated.
Patent: Fashion and society at large got hit by the global recession pretty hard in the last few years, but now it seems we are slowly on a comeback. Since fashion and society are so closely intertwined, what do you think fashion is trying to say to society right now?
Mara: I think designers are just getting their footing again and feeling confident to put themselves out there. I think the consumer is getting warmed up to the idea of spending again, if it's worth it. I think it needs to stand out and have great value.
Patent: This year's theme being the 'Power of Style', how would you define that?
Patent: If you could patent one thing in your closet, what would it be?
Mara: Wow. I don't know.
Patent: I stumped you? [laughter]
Mara: You did. What would you do?
Patent: Classic black trousers.
Mara: [thinks] A white t-shirt.
