I want a SLR camera, but i have no clue on what brand is good. Should I go for Nikon or Canon?

Can anyone help me?

But both are amazing and like anything else it depends on how much you want to spend. Go to craigslist and look under photo/ video for sale. There are lots of SLR cameras for under 500 and in my experience people generally take care of electronics so there are few problems with buying high quality items used.
