THE TORONTO SCENE
I’m new to the so called “SCENE” and I find it very interesting. There is a lot of people that are on a very high pedestal for no reason at all, people convince themselves to think that they are a celebrity *SIGH* its so sad because it’s a matter of time before they get a rude awakening. People in Toronto needs to get it together and understand that knowing a lot of people or pretending that you do something is not going to get you no where in life. Why can people find there true talent and just simply stick with that, why do people have to pick an occupation that is so called “cool” and pretend they do it (roll eyes). If you find something that you are talented at and you work on that, you would become unstoppable and then people would truly respect you based on your talent. You don’t need to pop bottles to prove you have money, you don’t have to be with the “it guy “ to prove you’re pretty, you don’t have to pretend your friends with someone because it’s a “good look” JUST BE YOURSELF and if you are truly talented at what you do, be humble about it because at the end of the day the people that admire your work would be the ones that would support you no matter what, so have respect for them.

A LEGACY UNVAILED
OUR SCRAPBOOK FROM FASHION WEEK- CONT'D
As mentioned before, we got invited to see the exclusive screening of Valentino: The Last Emperor but due to our busy schedule on Friday, we had our ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR- MISS BOSS, attend the screening, her inside scoop below:
VALENTINO: THE LAST EMPEROR
The Last Emperor, indeed!
Focuses on a real-life emperor with his lavish and extensive lifestyle; full name Valentino Garavani. In addition to his couture clothes that are made stitch by stitch with no sewing machines insight and all his seamstresses wear white while they handle these fine fabrics. Just to experience his daily life and routine which included extensive homes filled with priceless art, his private jets and yachts, ridiculously lavish parties and ubiquitous string of beloved pug dogs who travel with him everywhere make his lifestyle nothing more then posh mixed with royalty.
Now to the man whom in my opinion made me the movie:
Giancarlo Giammetti, Valentino’s long-time lover and partner the intimate portrait of their intense, devoted 24/7/365 relationship. Giammetti is a dream husband: handsome, charmingly down-to-earth, incredibly tolerant and a business genius, who has financially kept the brand alive through the decades and made it a huge cash cow. Having watched this documentary you come to realize Valentino is not an easy person to be around, Giammetti emerges as the more interesting of the two men.
The highlight of the movie was by far the retirement via the grandest fashion blowout in Rome where the crème de la crème attended, ever conceived. We see the preparations for this affair, which epitomizes the gorgeous, venal, evanescent, bottom-line, high-low world of fashion itself.
In conclusion Valentino retired in 2007. His empire had changed hands several times new people coming in and people leaving the company for what ever reason; he is no longer the owner of V or his designs. That's the way of today's business sad but true.....
My over all view is The Last Emperor is a "Must See" for people with style, grace and Fashion in there Blood.

FASHION WEEK
TUESDAY
BUSTLE
Shantae (writer) and I (Henrietta) went to the Bustle show. Bustle is a men line we went just for fun ( to be honest we just wanted to see the HOT GUYS LOL) well anyways the show was really cool. The line was really laid back with an effortless feel. There was a lot of pattern and plaid in the shirts, slim fitting pants, and the suits were sharply tailored. To add a little flare to the show Shawn Hewson (the designer) added three female models to the show and made them look like guys, Taryn was one of the models and she rocked the show. Overall the show was fun and nice.
HERE ARE SOME PICTURES
HEART TRUTH FOUNDATION
We also went to the Heart Truth Foundation Show. The show was about raising awareness about the risk of heart disease and stroke for women. Instead of models they had some of the most celebrated women of Toronto that are in film, music, and media to walk the runway. Each person was wearing a Red Dress that was designed to complement their unique personality. This was by far the best show of the night it was super fun.
WEDNESDAY
PINK TARTAN
A lot of people came out to see the show. It looked like Kimberley Newport (the designer) was trying to take a risk and do something different. Her collection was very edgy with a rocky feel. There was a lot black, leather and fur. But overall we were really disappointed we were excepting more, it wasn’t inspiring at all.
JOE FRESH
Joseph Mimran (the designer) is the man, he can not be touched. The production and collection was amazing. He had Irina Lazarean (famous model) open and close the show. The colour theme was black and white, there was bubble jackets, fur, tights, long johns, and bubble shirts. At the end of the show it started snowing, it was so amazing. We have a big list of things that we want, we love the fact that its not expensive.
THURSDAY
LE MALEK @ THE SHOWDOWN
We didn’t go to any shows at fashion week we only went to the showdown to see Jennifer Le’s first collection. The show was great it was very over the top like John Galliano and the models were very fierce, Taryn was in the show too. There was a lot of metallic, sequence and beading. Over all we were very happy that she took a risk and did something over top and different we need more of that in Toronto. The only thing is that she didn’t have enough ready - to - wear pieces.
