PATENT APPROVES: Anthony Creary

Patent Mag’s Irene Boateng attended La Dame guerilla photography exhibit by Antony Creary last week.

Here’s her review.
The lady. La señora. La dame. A woman can be properly addressed in all languages. But Toronto photographer, Antony Creary surpassed that and took us on a voyage through images that reflect the elegance of the female body. After three years of practicing photography, Creary felt it was time to debut his collection, La Dame, which means the lady in French. Inspired by music, his collection he explores the beauty of the woman’s body. He proclaims, “It’s the greatest creation ever!” There’s no argument about that.

La Dame was held at Smash Recoveries in the Junction area, which gave off a real vintage vibe and in a unique way, exuded sensuality because of its mellowness. Not only is the venue a gallery but it’s also a store that carries industrial and architectural salvage items and contemporary art and design.

Spectators enjoyed the delectable appetizers and drinks as they indulged to the sweet sounds of DJ JC (Glamour Ent.) and the La Dame podcast compiled by Creary himself with artists like Erykah Badu and Bob Marley. Candles and incense burned and filled up the space as more people entered the vicinity.

He is proud of his work and his team.

“I feel it’s a big step for me. I can have three people come, I can have 300 people come-- it doesn’t matter to me. To me it’s all about the fact that I was able to pull this together along with my team member, Karla.” he says.

Hung on a clothes line, images of the female body and assets were presented for spectators to view. It proved to be an exceptional work of art and didn’t come across as perverted or too sexual, but rather, classy.

Creary thanks everyone who came out and supported him. Patent congratulates him on his debut collection, La Dame.

Patent Was There

"LA DAME" GUERILLA PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT

This debut collection by Toronto photographer, Antony Creary, is a celebration of the female body where he has been able to capture the power and allure of a woman, in each shot. Showcasing women of all shapes, sizes and ethnicities, La Dame serves to be an exploration of beauty, presenting the female body as a work of art. The show will be more of an experience for the viewers as the work will be displayed in a very interactive way, straying from traditional mounting on the wall. This will allow the audience to explore their roles as spectators.

Want To Avoid Being SINGLE & LONELY The Rest Of Your Life? Don’t Fall Victim To The 80/20 Rule

Ladies & Gentlemen, I in no way advocate FORCING a relationship with someone who doesn’t deserve you, but before you leave ANY relationship, you should ask yourself this one simple question: In my quest to find someone better than the person I’m with, am I really sure that better is OUT there?

The 80/20 Rule: When you decide to leave your partner who “only” has 80% of the qualities you want [in search of that "Perfect" person who has 100% of them] only to end up finding people who ONLY have that 20% [and none of the 80% you gave up]. Every-damn-day there is some woman who is leaving her man who loves her, listens attentively to her & treats her like a queen BUT he doesn’t have P. Diddy’s business sense or Jay-Z’s drive so he’s content with his $35K/yr job and she HAS To leave his punk-a*s. Or you have some dude who is leaving a woman who cooks, cleans, fulfills his freaky fantasies and supports his dreams BUT she doesn’t look like Victoria Secret’s model Selita Ebanks so she is ultimately expendable. These people are IDIOTS.

I understand that some people think making a list of the qualities you want in a woman/man is a SMART thing to do because it helps give you focus and perspective [which is a lot of Bullsh*t] but to these people, you should understand one thing: The reality of life and LOVE is that you WON’T get EVERYTHING you desire in another human being. The biggest LIE we are ever told from the day we are kids old enough to read and understand is that couples live “Happily Ever After.” But no one explains to us what that really means, so we take it to mean that they live a life without arguments, disagreements, fights and power struggles. That is NOT REAL LIFE. Real relationships have A LOT of arguments, disagreements, fights and power struggles, but that does not make them BAD relationships, it just makes them human. A great relationship isn’t one without conflict, it is one where the couple can continually overcome the many conflicts that arise.

So when we look at our significant other, we CAN’T just look at them as a grocery list, where we check-mark and cross things off the list and worry about what we cant cross off; We need to look at the person for the TOTALITY of that one individual and ask ourselves one simple question: Does this person provide me with enough happiness to overcome their shortcomings?
As human beings we are great at knowing what we WANT, but not always so clear on what we NEED. Maybe we should take a moment to STOP analyzing if someone fits the WANTS we have, and look to see if their faults are what we can stand. And If you really want to be different, take a look at your OWN damn faults – and ask if YOU even DESERVE this 80% person you’re dating.

I agree with this article 100%

Refinery29 + Solange

Refinery29 interviewed Solange about her style, new album, hair and how she really feels about House of Deréon . Peek the answers below

What's your secret style weapon?
"Shoes! I'm all about the shoes! I order a ton of them online and play with my entire wardrobe until I find the right shoe. Unfortunately, so many people get it right from the head until the ankles. The shoe is very important. I can't even fuck with you if your shoe game is slacking."

Tell us a little bit about working on the new album.
"I went up to Santa Barbara, found this house on five acres in the mountains and invited a bunch of amazing musicians to come live there with me for a month and just experiment. We woke up around 10 a.m. and made music until midnight, all of course while drinking good wine, picking avocados from the trees outside to make guacamole, and maybe enjoying a joint or two. I left the process a little crazy, but I really feel like I came into my own."

What inspired the bold new 'do? You mentioned you can no longer hide with that hair, has it changed the way you see yourself?
"When I was recording, I was staying in a house with five guys and two showers. I knew there would be a shower wait everyday and with my natural cropped hair, it's mandatory that I wash it otherwise it gets stuck to my head like glue! I wanted to get something that I could literally roll out of bed without looking nuts. I watched so many Chaka Khan YouTube videos and became sort of obsessed with her during the process. I went to my stylist and said 'Give me the fro.' I walk differently now, sing differently; This hair has spirit and soul."

You've got such unique style, would you ever consider being involved in the family fashion business, House of Deréon?
"Why thank you very much! It's funny you ask because I initially was involved as the spokesperson, but the clothes just didn't reflect my personal style and I decided to hand that over. That's the great thing about my family. We work together so closely that if something's not working out, we can be honest about it and there won't be any grudges or issues. I wrote a couple of songs on my sister's last album and if there's a line she doesn't like, she changes it and we keep on moving. I will say though, they did just do a bedding line that I am extremely in love with and I was like, 'Can I model that... in my house?'"
